Be 18 years of age.
Hold a class 1 medical certificate.
Hold a valid PPL and night rating.
Complete a minimum of 200 hours flight time, including:
100 hours as pilot in command (PIC), of which 50 hours must be cross-country and 5 hours must be at night.
40 hours of instrument flight training — up to 20 hours may be completed on an approved simulator (note: 10 hours may already have been completed during PPL and Night rating courses).
Pass 10 CAA theoretical examinations (minimum pass mark 75%).
Complete a general radio license course.
Pass a CPL ground evaluation and a practical flight test in an advanced-type aircraft and simulator, conducted by a CAA-approved Designated Flight Examiner.
The Instrument rating test is typically combined with the CPL flight test.
After meeting all practical and theoretical requirements, your training records will be reviewed and submitted to the CAA.
Pay the applicable issuance fee to have your PPL upgraded to a CPL.
