Flight trainings
Complete a minimum of 45 hours of flight training, including at least 25 hours of dual instruction and 15 hours solo — of which 5 hours must be solo cross-country.
Pass 8 online theoretical exams (minimum pass mark 75%).
Pass an english language proficiency test at level 4 or higher (if required).
Complete a restricted radio license course.
Be at least 17 years old to take the two practical flight tests:
General flight test — evaluates aircraft handling in a variety of situations.
Cross-country navigation test — evaluates navigation skills on a planned triangular route within controlled airspace, including landings at airfields away from base.
After meeting practical and theoretical requirements, your training records will be reviewed and submitted to the CAA.
Pay the required issuance fee to have your SPL upgraded to a PPL.
Be 18 years of age.
Hold a class 1 medical certificate.
Hold a valid PPL and night rating.
Complete a minimum of 200 hours flight time, including:
100 hours as pilot in command (PIC), of which 50 hours must be cross-country and 5 hours must be at night.
40 hours of instrument flight training — up to 20 hours may be completed on an approved simulator (note: 10 hours may already have been completed during PPL and Night rating courses).
Pass 10 CAA theoretical examinations (minimum pass mark 75%).
Complete a general radio license course.
Pass a CPL ground evaluation and a practical flight test in an advanced-type aircraft and simulator, conducted by a CAA-approved Designated Flight Examiner.
The Instrument rating test is typically combined with the CPL flight test.
After meeting all practical and theoretical requirements, your training records will be reviewed and submitted to the CAA.
Pay the applicable issuance fee to have your PPL upgraded to a CPL.
Be 21 years of age.
Hold a class 1 medical certificate.
Hold a commercial pilot licence with Instrument rating.
Pass 6 CAA theoretical examinations.
Accumulate a minimum of 1,500 hours total flight time, including:
250 hours as pilot in command.
100 hours night flying.
200 hours cross-country flying.
Complete a minimum of 75 hours instrument flight time — up to 30 hours may be completed on an approved simulator.
These instrument and additional hours are typically gained through employment as a CPL pilot and require a substantial time investment.
Complete a practical flight test on a multi-engine aircraft or simulator in a simulated multi-crew, IFR environment, conducted by a CAA-approved grade I designated flight examiner.
